The US has a master plan to all its military adventures, Afghanistan included. It's called Full Spectrum Dominance, and its outlined in 20-20 vision, which has been the US military joint chiefs of staff guiding document since May 2000. The vision is nothing less than the military, strategic, political and economic dominance by the US of the rest of the world, with the domination of space as the final frontier. Here's an extract. 'The ultimate goal of our military force is to accomplish the objectives directed by the National Command Authorities. For the joint force of the future this goal will be achieved through full spectrum dominance - the ability of US forces, operating unilaterally or in combination with multinational and interagency partners to defeat any adversary and control any situation across the full range of military operations. The label full spectrum dominance implies
that US forces are able to conduct prompt, sustained, and synchronised
operations with the combinations of forces tailored to specific situations
and with access to and freedom to operate in all domains - space, sea,
land, air and information. Additionally, given the global nature of our
interests and obligations, the United States must maintain its overseas
presence forces and the ability to project power worldwide in order to
achieve full spectrum dominance.

Wars in Sheffield!
Sheffield University and Boeing corporaion plan to build a research centre near Sheffield airport. This may sound like good news for jobs locally, but Boeing corporation is the biggest contractor in the US $60 billion space weapons research programme (Son of Star Wars). Sheffield MPs and Sheffield City Council welcome Boeing to the city, but no one has asked you if you want your city and University tied up with a US space weapons programme. Weapons in space will mean more war on Earth. Is this what you want? *
