PFC Lobbies US Congress on Mc Bride Case

The Pat Finucane Centre will join various Irish-American  organisations in lobbying US Congress members this week. Stuart Ross, a US based member  of the Derry group, will meet with a number of congressional representatives to  highlight the case of Peter Mc Bride and the refusal of the British army  to dismiss the Scots Guards convicted of his 1992 murder. Stuart has  written extensively on the case in US newspapers and has co-ordinated various International Days of Action.

A judicial review of the Army Board decision to retain Scots Guards  Mark Wright and James Fisher will be held at Belfast High Court on March 29  and 30 and it is hoped that observers from the US will attend. Peter Mc Bride  spent time in Syracuse NY as a child on holidays sponsored by Project Children  and media in upstate New York have shown growing interest in the ongoing  campaign. The lobbying of congress has been organised by the Irish-American Unity Conference.
