Introduction to Photoshop - The Course

To provide an incentive to experimenting in photo manipulation I registered on a Photoshop course.

My Portfolio

For this I had to produce a portfolio of three examples using a range of Photoshop tools.

The three images are Mother in Sepia, Greetings from Sheffield and Alien Planet.

Mother in Sepia

Mother in Sepia is an experiment in the use of Photoshop for restoration and photo enhancement. My starting point was a battered print of my mother and grandmother, from a studio photograph taken in the 1920s. It was approximantely the size of a postcard. Originally in black and white I felt it would have a more period effect in sepia.

Greetings from Sheffield

Greetings from Sheffield was constructed using digital photographs. (I took them with my phone as when I got to town I found that I had forgotten to charge my camera battery and I was working at the 11th hour - or later).

Alien Planet

Alien Planet uses scanned 35mm colour negatives from three photographs. Elements have been extracted and rescaled. The colours from each are modified. The elements were arranged using five layers, on a background of a digital photograph of the sky at sunset (re-coloured). The planet has been given an extra 'sun'
